If you've never seen Sir Ian McKellen playing a role in one of the Shakespeare plays he adores so much, now's your chance. The 84 year old national treasure, one of the world's greatest actors, has finally accepted the part of Falstaff, a character he has never understood and has previously rejected. Luckily for us he felt that the fresh new stage adaptation of Henry IV, Parts 1 and 2, created by the award-winning writer and director Robert Icke, was just too good to resist. McKellen plays the flamboyant boozer and party animal John Falstaff and the play hits the West End in spring 2024.
The respected director and writer Robert Icke has adapted the production from the Bard's original, and he's an award winner in his own right. The plot blends Shakespeare's great history plays to create something special. Whether or not you've seen a Shakespeare play on stage before, this wonderful production will prove memorable. On at the Noël Coward Theatre from 1st April to 22nd June 2024 for a strictly limited season, first previewing at the New Wimbledon Theatre and Manchester Opera House, this is pure class, not to be missed.
