Into The Woods

A Baker and his Wife discover that the Witch next door has cursed their family line, and that they have three days to gather the four items that will lift it. The hunt takes them into the woods, where their path crosses those of Cinderella, Jack, Little Red Riding Hood and Rapunzel. By the interval every character has the thing they wished for; the second half is about living with it.

Kate Fleetwood reprises her Olivier-nominated Witch, with John Dagleish, winner of the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical for Sunny Afternoon, as the Baker and Laura Pitt-Pulford as the Baker's Wife. Stephen Sondheim wrote the music and lyrics and James Lapine the book; Jordan Fein directs, with design by Tom Scutt. Winner of the 2026 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival, Into the Woods is Sondheim at his sharpest on what people actually do once they get their wish.

Into the Woods 2026
Excellent show and interesting venue. Didn't know what I bought when I purchased stall 1. Ok but not great Some outstanding voices and some just very good. Totally enjoyable however!

A great thought provoking spin
Very well acted great message. Lots to think about when we’re always so busy ‘wishing’ for things. Sometimes there are consequences to all we wish for.

You need to like Sondheim'smusic
The staging, production and singing were exceptional. Kudos to the cast! But - and this is a personal thing... I found the slightly atonal and discordant music of Sondheim difficult. Also the story is too intertwined with too many fairy tales so you kind of lose the thread of who is who doing what.

Wonderful show - the whole cast were superb
Absolutely worth all the time and effort getting to London from the West Country to see this fabulous show. What a treat. Probably not for very small children. I'm sure that older children would probably enjoy it, especially if they have been introduced to the more gruesome side of the fairly tales.

such a great show for people of all ages
I saw the original production of into the woods in 1988 with bernadette peters - at the time I was 19 and my head was full of dreams. Now, at 56 years old, I have faced loss and the challenges that come after "happily ever after." As such, the second act of this show resonated with me so deeply - this production was glorious - I really loved it.

Superb production and performance
This fabulous cast combined with the music of Sondheim would have made a great evening out, but combined with the superb lighting, sound, musicianship and the stunning set - it was a masterpiece and the best musical I have seen in a long time. Thank you.

Traditional producion proving the show works to this day in origianl format.
Brilliantly executed production with perfect fit performances, Sondheim fans will be delighted and people new to the show will be enchanted. The show garnered more laughs than I have experienced in the 10 or so previous productions of ITW that I have been lucky enough to see. The design quality for the woods was undoubtedly the best I have seen.
