Returning to the West End for his first production there since Frost/Nixon in 2006, multi-award-winning actor and director Michael Sheen (The Passion, Nye, Our Town) stars as the resentful court composer Antonio Salieri. Opposite him, BAFTA Cymru winner Callum Scott Howells (It’s a Sin, Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club) makes his debut as musical prodigy Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Peter Shaffer’s landmark play.
Sheen is the first major actor to have played both iconic roles, following acclaimed performances as Mozart in the West End and on Broadway (1998/1999), and as Salieri at the Sydney Opera House (2022).
Amadeus also reunites Sheen and Howells for the first time since their collaboration on the BBC drama The Way, and marks the first time two Welsh actors have portrayed these legendary characters in the same production.
